Professional career
Glòria contributes to advancing the goals of the library community, promoting the importance of libraries in society, and advocating for the rights of users to access information. She worked at Diputació de Barcelona (1977-2023), Generalitat de Catalunya (2005-2008), and as Director of the National Library of Spain (2010-2013) and Member of the Board and Permanent Commission (2008-2013).

Professional career
Director of the Global Libraries Program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 2008- 2018. Oversaw the foundation’s work to improve the lives of one billion “information-poor” people by 2030 while positioning the world’s public libraries as critical community assets and providers of information through relevant technologies

City Librarian, Seattle Public Library 1997-2008 efforts included leading a $291 million capital-improvement program called “Libraries for All” that funded the construction of a new Central Library and renovated, built, or expanded 26 branch libraries.

Current Efforts
In 2019 after leaving the foundation, I began the next phase of my life which I call "Exploration and Discovery." Currently, In addition to SIGL I am actively involved year round as a volunteer for voters rights, democracy and social justice initiatives.  I have found passion in my garden as an urban farmer, feeding friends and neighbors and in discovering who I am as I explore new paths.
